Bite of Joy

Branding Design - Fictional Cafe

Bite of Joy is a fictional branding project for a pastries café aimed at young creatives who crave more than just sweets — they want experiences that are fun, shareable, and emotionally expressive. The visual identity combines minimalism with bold, cheerful design elements. I crafted a full identity system including a logo, menu design, packaging, and social media presence. The menu categories — Feeling Sweet, Feeling Salty, Feeling Bitter, Feeling Thirsty — playfully link moods to food, making the brand memorable, relatable, and inherently social.

Explanation

To develop the mascot and logo, I began with sketches and a mindmap exploring different symbols tied to cafés and emotions. After testing several ideas, I settled on a coffee bean creature as the main character — simple, friendly, and instantly recognizable. To reflect the café’s joyful identity, I added a small flower as an accessory, connecting it visually to the name Bite of Joy and reinforcing the brand’s warm, cheerful personality.

Explanation

To define the visual tone of Bite of Joy, I experimented with various font combinations and color palettes, testing how playful or minimal the identity could be while still feeling bold and welcoming. Through this iterative process, I refined the typography to be expressive yet clear, and selected a vibrant but balanced color scheme that captured the café’s cheerful, emotionally driven personality.
